And at iSimangaliso you can view the biggest land mammal (elephant), the oldest land mammal (rhino), the biggest sea mammal (blue whale), the oldest fish (coelacanth) and the most dangerous mammal (Hippo) all in the same reserve on the same day.
Not forgetting, SA’s ecosystems found nowhere else in the world Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden nestled at the foot of Table Mountain is the first Botanical Garden to preserve the country’s unique and indigenous flora. Kwa-Zulu Natals Tugela Falls is the second highest waterfall in the world found in the Drakensberg an area also known for its mountain peaks. While SA’s big city Johannesburg has the world’s largest man-made urban forest, Mpumalanga has the world’s biggest green canyon and go whale watching in Hermanus considered as one of the 12 best whale watching locations in the world.
The best of South Africa is also its natural landscapes there’s plenty of that in the Free State province small town of Clarens, which is part of the scenic Highlands Route surrounded by mountains of Rooiberge and Maloti Mountain. The Midlands Meander just outside of Pietermaritzburg but before the Drakensberg mountain range with rolling hills, streams, lakes, some indigenous forest, farmlands and pine plantations of the timber industry.
