Clarens Mountain Sage Holiday House

This house is new, spacious, and tastefully decorated. There is an office desk to work at and free uncapped WiFi. Games, music, and books are provided. With two lounge areas, one upstairs and one downstairs, there is an opportunity to be together or a little apart from the rest of your group (we take only one reservation at a time, no other guests share with you). There is a combustion fireplace (wood) which is very cozy in the cold winters for which the town is known. You have a choice to prepare food in the fully equipped kitchen or on the barbecue on the veranda. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom where you will find a selection of toiletries and various towels. In winter we provide electric blankets and oil heaters.

You are about 5 minutes’ leisurely walk from the center of town – no need to fight for parking or to worry about having that extra glass of wine! For church services on Sunday, you are in the same block as the Methodist church, & the DR church is right behind you on Main street. Dr. Peek’s surgery is in the same street as you, in the next block. Although the town has changed a lot during and after lockdowns, the street maps in the villa are still accurate.I love traveling, especially camping in remote areas where few people ever go to. That makes me appreciate well-appointed accommodation even more, and I strive to provide this to my guests. Many people do not want to stay in a hotel but still like a bit of pampering on their holiday and I hope that Mountain Sage House lives up to expectations.

Pamphlets and maps of Clarens and its shops, restaurants, and activities are provided in the house, although changes come very quickly during the challenges of lockdown so it is best to explore on your own. If you prefer more serene surroundings, go for a hike in the Nature Reserve, which is about 10 minutes’ walk from the villa. You can also drive a few kilometers out of town and enjoy cheese and wine on the farm (Noah’s Cheese and Baris Cheese) or have a light meal and shop bric-a-brac at Sugar and Cinnamon. The spa at Kiara Lodge on the road to Golden Gate is open to day visitors. Fishing and horse riding are also available outside town.
